Summertime!!!

Its summertime! I just wanted to post some updates and some helpful tips!

First I would like to say thank you to all of the NY knot ladies for keeping my name out there. I love meeting you all and doing the sessions and I really appreciate you all driving 2 or more hours.

Next on my list of topics is TAN LINES!! Tans are great BUT for the fact that when you are wearing next to nothing and you still have your white bathing suit on. Its not so sexy. Yes, I do some airbrushing but I take close to 300 photos.
So here are a few suggestions:
Apply self tanner to the areas that are white.
Have yourself spray tanned before the shoot!
Last, if none of the above interest you, just don't bring lingerie that reveal the contract of the tan lines! Meaning if you wear a full covered bottom bathing suite and your butt is white don't bring a thong.

Last, If your wedding is in September or October please contact me to schedule an appointment in August. I am booking up pretty fast and I want to make sure I can get everyone in!

Please feel free to contact me at anytime!

Topic What to wear to the studio...

So today's topic is not what you wear at the studio but what you should wear to the studio. HMM you say. Well recently I did a couple of photos shoots wear the girls wore tight fitting jeans. They are totally cute and sexy but when you take them off, you may have lines all over your mid section. Which can take a while to go away and which will make more photo shop work for me.
So please try to wear loose fitting clothes, ie sweatpants. Preferably can you just drive to the studio in your bathrobe! LOL! I just thought I would mention this before I forget and remember the next time the problem occurs! Thanks girls!

And a special thanks to Mrs. M who came and rocked the shoot pin up style yesterday. The shoot was fun! Oh and I loved Ms. J's shoot last Sunday. She had some really cute ideas with a football! Maybe she will let me post some headless!

Meet Jewel!

Hello this is a photo of me Jewel. I thought it would be nice to post a photo of myself for the girls who are coming for appointments soon and for the girls who are interested in coming. Maybe it will make you a little more at ease once you see I am just an average girl with a smiling face.
Here is a little information about my experience with boudoir photography.
I started shooting boudoir photos about 2 and a half years ago. When I first decided I was going to do this type of photography I practiced on my sister and a few of my girlfriends. This was just to make sure that this would be something I was comfortable doing. The outcome was I loved it! I love shooting boudoir for a couple of reasons. The first is it is a great feeling when you are able to help boosts someones self esteem and show them there beauty through a photo. Another reason is it is just fun. Its a fun girlie thing to do. I also love creating different poses and using light in different ways.
Here is a little information about my personality. The best way I like to describe myself when girls are nervous about coming, is that I am just like having one of your girlfriends in the session with you. I will laugh with you, not at you. I will help you to coordinate your lingerie and help you get dressed if you need help. In Fact, I think I am expert at clipping the garters on to the stockings. (not something I thought I would ever say) Expert Garter Clipper! :)
I am there to make you comfortable and help you relax.
Well that wraps the about me section up for now, I will be posting new boudoir photos soon and photos of my studio.

Burlesque Inspired Hair Clip Giveaway!

Above are two photos of a burlesque inspired feather hair clip designed and made by me! I am giving it away to the 7th girl who emails me. Please put B-clip in your subject box!
So I told you there will be giveaways and there will be! Of course they will all be boudoir inspired! Anyway, I am now starting to design and sell these hair clips. The reason being is I have seen them from to time to time and they are extremely expensive. I don't know anyone who wants to spend $60.00 or more on a hair clip they may only wear once or twice. The hair clips are a great addition to a boudoir photo shoot. They are fun and sometimes it helps to have a little something extra to make you feel more sexy.
Please email me if you are interested in buying a hairclip they are $15.00. You can choose the colors. I will have a gallery of options soon.

What to wear??

One of the biggest questions I am asked is What to wear?

I always say to bring everything, bring the house you never know what you'll want when your at the studio.
Now with that said, the absolute essentials are a pair of black panties and a pair of white panties. With these 2 items any great boudoir photographer can create numerous images and styles you will love without revealing more than you want to. At my studio, I have a few different items to cover your top that are fun, flirty and sexy.
If you have the money and you want to splurge a little on yourself, head out to your local lingerie store and have fun! Try many different styles of lingerie, you never know what is going to look good on you. As many of you are aware that when looking for your wedding gown, not all the ones in the magazine that you looked at, were the right style for you. This is the same for lingerie!

ACCESSORIES!! Bring, high heels! They have more than one use. First they look great on your feet and second they help you stand with better posture and raise your back end up a little helping to smooth out the legs! Bring Jewels! All the jewels you would like, the bigger and bolder the better! Thigh highs and fishnets are always fun! Garters and if you have your veil for your wedding!

Now that we have covered the lingerie, we can move on to other sexy ideas! Some of the girls that have come to my studio have asked if they can bring items that their man is into.
So here is a list for that:
If your man is into Sports:
Favorite team jersey
Team Hat
Props: bat, balls, golf clubs
If your man is into Music:
Instrument
If you man is into his job or yours:
Bring any items you think might relate!
Lastly, you can can bring his shirt and tie or favorite T-shirt!
Oh and one more thing! You can have the your panties customized with his name. You can do this yourself by going to the craft store or you can order them off eBay.

To wrap it up I am going to leave you with a list of stores to shop at:
Obviously Victoria Secrets!
H&M has alot of cute bra and pantie sets that are affordable
JcPenney is great if you have a larger chest size!
Walmart carries a bunch of stockings including the thigh highs and fishnets.
Hot Topic has a cute hair accessories
Ebay has Team Garters that are cute!
This list can go on forever but I just wanted to share a few things!

Anyone who has additional ideas and would like to post a comment about it and where you bought it. It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

How was your Valentines Day?

Hi everyone! Its Monday and I am sure some of you are off from work today relaxing but for those of you who are bored at work please share your Valentines Day Romance Story.

This is mine

On Thursday of last week I didn't have any plans. I just knew we were going to dinner somewhere. So, Thursday evening I was out with my girlfriend who happens to work at the Hartford Hilton and I was saying I didn't have any plans and she said why don't you stay at the Hilton. I took her up on the offer and so the planning began Friday morning. Yes, the day before Valentine's Day. I guess I should inform you all that as I am a hopeless Romantic my husband is not! I usually plan all the Romantic dates.

Back to Friday morning, well actually 3:00 on Friday afternoon, I started to call area restaurants and to my surprise they were all booked. Who would know that I would have to make reservations at least 2 weeks in advance. (Sarcastically said). Needless to say I did not have a reservation for anywhere.

Now on to actual Valentines Day, my husband and I checked in to our hotel at about 6:30 and I got a text for my girlfriend who helped me with the room and she was out with her hubby. I asked if she wanted to meet for a drink. So we all decided to meet for a drink at Trumbull Kitchen. My hubby and I headed over to Trumbull Kitchen, we thought we would see if there was a possibility to get a seat for dinner after our drinks. NO Chance of that! We were then standing by the bar waiting for a seat to open at the bar. But here is the kicker, there were all these seats open by the bar. I have never been to the Trumbull Kitchen so I did no know that was bar seating. I asked someone if we need a reservation for the tables near the bar. They said no, so we sat there and our friends showed up and sat with us. We preceded on with the evening having great drinks and apps. While we were sitting there, we watched couples pour in for their reservations. Guess what they waited over an hour even with reservations. They all looked miserable! Talk about a romance killer standing in the foyer to the restaurant waiting an hour for a table. So we stayed there a while and then went to an Irish Pub and continued having a great time.

Finally, we made it back to our room, where we hung our do not disturb sign! This is where the story ends. And the moral is you can have a better time just winging it!

If you have time please post your story in the comments section. This will be the topic for the week and for those of you who like JCREW I got this email this morning to enter to win a free honeymoon in Greece

New for 2009

So, you ask whats with the fancy new name? I am reinventing my boudoir business for 2009. After 2 years of running my business under the Jewel Photography name I have decided to separate the Boudoir business from the rest. Bijou is the french word for Jewel so I thought it was appropriate for this new business.
Now on to whats exciting about this blog. I will be posting photos of ladies who will allow me. Second, this is a great place to share information from the ladies who have come for a session and ladies who would like to share how you surprised your guys with your photos and his reaction. Last, I am always available to answer any questions, I will checking the blog daily and hosting discussions on what to wear and where to buy it. Boudoir sessions are alot of fun and I want to help you to be excited about it and not so nervous.
On to the business side of things.
So here's the new a la cart pricing for 2009
The Session is $250.00
Includes 90 minute photo session at my studio
30 4x6 prints
High Resolution CD
The Album $150.00
8x8 black suede 25 page magazine style
Hair & Makeup (includes fake lashes) $100.00
My studio is conveniently located inside a Day Spa
Top Five Questions:
1. How far in advance do I have to book?
You should book at least 6 weeks before the photos are need. I have a studio so unlike other photographers who offer sessions on certain days, I am available 7 days a week. I do marathon sessions upon request.
2. I don't know how to pose, do you have suggestions and poses? No need to worry I will tell you what to do, if you have some photos you have seen and you like bring them.
3. What do you have at your studio? I have black and white backdrops, many different fur blankets, carpets and fabrics, a Victorian bench setting, a red velvet curtain with a zebra striped bench, other Victorian style benches and stools, pillows, hats, boas and pearls (and the list goes on). I use different lighting effects and many different angles. Honestly you can come with a pair of white and black lace panties and leave with over a 100 different photos. I am always adding to the collection.
4. Do you show my photos to anyone?
Absolutely not! I only show photos of women who give me permission.
5. What should I bring?
Everything! lingerie, shoes, jewels, guys favorite shirt or prop. Bring the house you never know what you may want when you are in the session.
One last thing, I want to thank all of the ladies who have been spreading the word. I really appreciate it. You ladies have been great!

Great News for You!

In celebration of my new name and blog I am giving away a free session. Be one of the first 25 to follow my blog and you will be entered to win the session. Good Luck!!

P.S. This is just one of many upcoming giveaways. I am partnering up with some pretty interesting vendors for other giveaways (ie, day spas, makeup artists, lingerie stores, restaurants, ect...) It will definitely benefit you to subscribe.
